Hi! I'm Maria LaFrance (AKA Maria in CT on other sites). I have been married to Dan since 2003, and we have one wonderful daughter, Piper Kenna, born July 2005, and a dog Max, who is an Australian Shepard mix. In the "real world" I have my Ph.D. in Psychology (not *that* kind of psychology though, so don't worry I won't analyze you LOL) and am a part-time college Psychology Professor.

I was a paper scrapper for 3 years but I was never very prolific. Committing to a layout and actually gluing everything down was really hard for me. I made plenty of cards, and tags, but actual finished layouts were few and far between. I started digital scrapping in March 2004 after reading several message board posts about it. First I didn't "get" it, why would you want layouts on your computer?? Then one day it hit me, you PRINT them out (DUH) and since that day I have been hopelessly addicted. In my first week of digi scrapping I made more layouts than in my 3 years of paper scrapping!

I am on Creative Teams for retrodiva, Traci Reed, and Amy Bleser, and for the online 'zine Ready-Set-Create! I began designing digital kits after competing in Digital Scrapbook Place's Scrapping Idol competition (I finished in the top 12). In addition to being a designer here at Digital Freebies, I also run weekly challenges in the forums, write the Tuesday Newsletter, and am one of the site admins...phew! I find so many things throughout my day that inspire my kit creation, lots of kits are inspired by my daughter's clothes...and since Grandma Pat is addicted to buying Piper clothes, I am not going to be lacking inspiration anytime soon!

So when I'm not writing a lecture, tending to Piper's every whim, or plopped in front of the computer, you can find me doing one of the other million crafty things I do, crochet, rubber stamping, jewelry making, sewing, cross-stitch, you name it, I've probably done it (except knitting...I can't knit to save my life!).
