Journaling Reads:
The best thing that happened to me in my 20s was a part time and temporary situation.

I was in the interviewing process for my first job after trade school, a full time Public Access Coordinator/Sports Producer position at Omnicom Cable. The interviewing process was a long one and I was offered a part time position as an Associate Producer in the Local Origination department while I was a candidate for the full time job. I jumped at the chance to shine for my would be bosses while I was trying to impress them in the interviews. What I ended up getting out of it was just enough experience to competently complete the skills part of the testing process, which brought me to a dead heat with the two men who were also vying for the position. I ended up scoring highest on the sports knowledge test, earning me the job! I wouldn’t have made it without the extra things I learned as an Associate Producer for three months!

I was the Public Access Coordinator and Sports Director at Omnicom for 4 1/2 years. In that time I earned accolades, raises and awards for my professional achievements. The greatest things I earned during that time were self confidence and friends that are still close parts of my family today.

I learned that no matter how small the visitor, never neglect to answer the door when opportunity knocks! - it may just be the first of many guests!
