Journaling: Mommy's contractions started in the middle of the night. She had been having false labor pains so when she started feeling the real thing she wasn't so sure it was true labor. She woke up at 3 am but didn't bother daddy until thirty minutes later. She felt that they were stronger than usual but still was unsure. She tried to go back to sleep but found it hard when the contractions were coming every five to eight minutes. She decided to take a hot shower because that had always helped before but there was no subsiding the pain. She took some Tylenol but that didn't help either. Daddy called the doctor at 5 am, and they told him to bring us in when she couldn't stand the pain anymore. At about 8 am she let daddy know that it was time to head to the hospital. When they got there, mommy was called to the back to get ready and daddy had to wait in the waiting room. Grandma and Grandpa Rodriguez knew we were all at the hospital, but mommy couldn't find Grandma Cisneros. They finally let daddy join us in the labor room and let us know that mommy was 2 cm dilated. Dr. Guajardo gave them a choice to go home and come back later or to stay and help labor along. Mommy didn't want to leave so we were connected to an IV. Daddy really helped mommy stay sane. She had a very hard time breathing through each contraction and wanted to give up with each contraction because they only kept getting more painful, thanks to the medicine they gave us. Daddy kept her focus. When mommy was between 3-4 cm they gave her demeral which only made her sleepy between contractions. About thirty minutes later mommy told daddy that she couldn't stand the pain anymore, so Daddy went to get the nurse and they gave her an epidural. She almost didn't make it through that because she had seen how the procedure was done and that panicked her. But once again Daddy calmed her done. It only numbed the right side so an hour later they redid the epidural. And this time she was numb on both sides. The rest of the time went by pretty quickly before they knew it Mommy was at 8 cm, then 9. By 5:00pm, she was fully dilated. The doctor wanted to wait until I made my way down the canal on my own and that only took about thirty minutes. When Mommy felt the pressure she knew it was time. The doctor and nurses began to prepare for my arrival. Mommy only had to push for about thirty minutes when I finally debuted. The doctor cut the cord because they had to give me to the neonatal doctor right away. When everything checked out okay they handed me to Mommy. We finally got to put a face to each other and we were a new family.
