The people, the architecture, the art - it's got it all. But perhaps the most amazing sight were these gilded doors - the Gates of Paradise. The are the doors to the Baptistry, right in front of the main Cathedral. In Renaissance times, you could not enter the Cathedral unless you had been baptized, hence, the Baptisty doors were the Gates of Paradise. font-harrington, another typewriter, fg jeana
