Being the oldest grandchild, I am the one who chose the names we’d know them by. The title of the layout, “Grampapa,” was what I called my maternal grandparents collectively when I first started to talk. Later they became Grandma and Papa. I knew them as a toddler by the collective name because I never saw them apart. Truth is, my Grandfather passed away just a month after their 50th wedding anniversary and they were romantically in love for their entire time together. They were always my model of what married life is supposed to be like.

And what a wonderful tribute to them! Love your journalling. It's amazing how many of that generation feel the same way about their deceased spouses! True love was inbred in them, I'm guessing!

This is beautiful. I always say there are three kinds of marriages that last -- those where you love each other and can't live without each other, those where you don't have a deep love for each other but live well together, and those where you hate each other but can't live apart. All others end in divorce. Because I work with divorce, I REALLY like hearing about the marriages that stay together because of love.
