The journaling reads: Leo landed in a desk job, which he didn’t like and I left the place where I thought we would always live; but accepting a transfer was expected if one wanted to get ahead. This was the second move for us within two years. I didn’t like it. This is where we lost our beloved dog, Cinder; this is where our 2nd child was born; this is where we acquired the bird dog, Patches; this is where Patches left his canine teeth marks in our son’s wrist. There were some good things to remember--dinner at the winery once a month (we saved up for it); bowling (for me) twice a week; and cake decorating lessons. When, in early 1971, Leo was asked if we wanted to move to Wise, VA, I jumped at the chance!
